The Cuban-American actor and singer Raúl Esparza will perform in the musical “Galileo” from November to May 2027 at the Shubert Theatre in New York. The show will have its opening night on 6th December and is based on the story of the Italian astronomer Galileo Galilei, who, with the telescope, discovered stars, satellites, and the moon’s rugged surface. Galileo explained that the Earth moves around the Sun, but his discoveries and opinions met political, religious, and scientific controversies.
The rock musical Galileo, directed by Michael Mayer and based on the book by Danny Strong, premiered at Berkeley Repertory Theatre in 2024. It’s a fascinating show with the rousing music and lyrics of Michael Weiner and Zoe Sarnak, the choreography by Davide Neumann.
The lightning effects create an immersive atmosphere, with stars and galaxies on a grand stage where the principal actor, Raúl Esparza, and the other protagonists perform with feeling and energy.
The Galileo musical, set in the immense expanse of the stars, conveys an important message: when truth and power meet, many difficulties arise, but to face them, you need the courage to say what you know is right.
Raúl Esparza is very acclaimed as a Broadway performer; he loves the stage work, theatre, and music together, because he enjoys interacting with the audience. As a student, he founded a club called Alpha, which means acting, literature, photography, history, and art.
After his professional debut in Mixed Blessings at Miami’s Coconut Grove Playhouse, Raúl played in Evita (1999), and he won the Theatre World Award with his performance in The Rocky Horror Show (2000). He also performed in Tick, Tick…Boom (2001), Cabaret (2002), Taboo (2003), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (2005), Company (2006), Arcadia (2011), Leap of Faith (2012), Seared (2019), Sweet Smell of Success (2025), winning various Awards. In his acting work, he connects the character to a specific perfume or cologne with notes of musk, citrus, tobacco, rum, and amber, which he wears for the role.
He has also worked in some movies like “Trouble in the Heights”, “Custody”, he performed for the animated television series: “Bojack Horseman”, “Dora and Friends: Into the City”, and he also employed his acting work as an audiobook narrator. The actor Raúl Esparza is also known for the television series Law & Order: SVU, where he plays Rafael Barba, a brilliant, smart, and elegant lawyer who enthralls audiences with his theatrical speeches during court trials as an Assistant District Attorney (ADA).
Raúl Esparza is a supporter of animal rescue associations such as “Stray from the Heart”. As an animal lover, he has participated in concerts and benefit initiatives such as Broadway Barks, which is dedicated to the adoption of dogs and cats. In the opening of the musical “Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang” at Hilton Theatre, the actor and singer Raúl Esparza and the cast took photos with some dogs.
For the campaign Bacardi Havana Club, in the video “Forever Cuban” produced and directed by Cuban exiles, Raúl Esparza recites some words from the poem “Isla en el cuerpo” (Body Island) by Richard Blanco, the poem tells the beauty of the island, the hard work of people, and the Cuban culture.
The actor will also perform in the play “The Winter’s Tale” directed by Daniel Sullivan at Central Park’s Delacorte Theater from July 25th to August 22nd, 2026. “The Winter’s Tale” by Shakespeare is a romantic story set in Sicily and Bohemia.
In his musical performances on stage, Raúl Esparza shows a vocal range that goes from romantic, intimate tones to scratchy, passionate sounds. RAÚL ESPARZA NEL BROADWAY MUSICAL “GALILEO”

L’attore e cantante cubano-americano Raúl Esparza interpreterà il musical “Galileo” da novembre a maggio 2027, al Teatro Shubert di New York. Lo show che avrà la serata di apertura il 6 dicembre, si basa sulla storia dell’astronomo italiano Galileo Galilei che scoprì con il telescopio, le stelle, i satelliti, la superficie ruvida della luna. Galileo spiegò che la Terra si muove intorno al Sole, ma le sue scoperte e opinioni incontrarono controversie politiche, religiose e scientifiche.
