The Health Benefits of Eating Italian Style

fiorellaFiorella DiCarlo RD, CDN will offer a special presentation titled, The Health Benefits of Eating Italian Style at the Italian American Museum on Thursday, May 29. Fiorella is a Registered Dietitian in private practice in New York City and born in Naples, Italy.  She is also founder of a food blog called Fiorella Eats. FiorellaEats is dedicated to exploring the Italian cuisine, culture and traditions and preserving artisanal cooking methods. Her background allows a unique perspective into healthy eating and has researched the numerous benefits of the Mediterranean diet. 

Italian-specialities-foodFiorella will discuss the benefit of the Mediterranean Diet and in particular the cuisine and traditions of Southern Italy. Many recent studies confirm the anti-cancer and longevity properties of this diet. Many of the ingredients and cooking methods traditional to Italy not only incorporate but enhance the absorption of vitamins in the body. She will focus on artisanal methods of cooking and preserving foods, specific nutrients found in seasonal and regional ingredients in Italian cuisine and how to combine the ingredients for maximum absorption and health. She will also discuss how the current food culture is evolving in New York City and moving toward natural eating. She will explore the scope of Italian cuisine in New York City from authentic Italian food to Italian American food and where to find it!
