(aise)

212 business meetings in 2 days, 56 Italian companies, 13 regions represented and hundreds of orders approved during the meetings. A success for ExportUSA and the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce of New York, which through a completely private partnership and in a short time—have structured the first major US incoming, hosting 35 buyers and executives of the most important independent supermarket chains Americans. A hundred US outlets have looked to Italy as their target market, to import specialty food products, set them up on their shelves and thus satisfy the expectations of the most demanding consumers.
“On 5 and 6 October last in Tabiano (Salsomaggiore, Parma)—says Federico Tozzi, DG of the Italian-American Chamber of Commerce in New York—212 business meetings were held, attended by 56 leading Italian companies in the dry (pasta and baked goods), frozen foods, dairy products, preserves, wines and spirits. An initiative that immediately paid off. An important turnout, which allowed us to understand what the American large-scale retail trade is looking for and how it intends to distribute Made in Italy agri-food and wine products. Private partnerships work well, especially when it comes to satisfying both the interests of the companies and the counterpart. We are really satisfied “.
13 regions represented: Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Tuscany, Piedmont, Lombardy, Campania, Abruzzo, Marche, Sicily, Calabria, Lazio, Umbria and Sardinia.
“More than half of the Italian territory—adds Muriel Nussbaumer, CEO of ExportUSA—has joined, negotiated and above all learned how the distribution of food & beverage in the United States is structured. Knowing how the American consumer behaves and how he chooses what to buy it has been a lever and an important lesson for everyone. We will never be grateful enough to our sponsors: BPER Banca and Sfera Servizi who have decided to believe in this great event from the very beginning, albeit very quickly in advance, making an important economic contribution. Finally, a special applause goes to the Maserati team which hosted a company tour dedicated entirely to the executives of the chains: a training experience of one of the most important Italian car manufacturers. At the end of the company visit, professional drivers accompanied our guests from Modena to the Tabiano Castle: a journey into the world of automobiles in short, 360 ° reasons “.
The brands that participated from the United States included: Roche Bros, (present in Massachusetts with 20 stores in the Boston metropolitan area), Bristol Farms, Lazy Acres Natural Market, New Leaf Market, Metropolitan Market, New Seasons Market (of the Good Food Holding group, 51 stores mainly in California between Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and San Diego, but also in the Vancouver area in the State of Washington and in Oregon in the Portland metropolitan area) and Heinen’s, (present in Ohio with 10 stores in the Cleveland metropolitan area and 4 stores in Illinois in the Chicago metropolitan area).
