Rome, Italy, November 25, 2021 –

ITA’s new aircraft details are slowly seeing the light of day. The old Alitalia Boeing aircraft, especially the 777-200 fleet has been retired. The replacement fleet should come as no surprise as it comes out of the Toulouse, France factory—the Airbus A350-900 widebody.

The A-350 is a long-haul wide-body plane flying trans-Atlantic locations such as Rome to Buenos Aries and New York. With the summer of 2022, ridership projections are anticipated to be returning to pre-2020 levels. Since mid-October when ITA began operations, 600,000 have flown the new carrier according to the airline. Ridership levels are expected to rise 150% with the new fleet that will be reflected with the additional 11 codesharing partners planned that will be joining the 157 codeshare locations already in effect.

ITA is now an all-Airbus airline with the new fleet of 25 aircraft that will consist of an assortment of A220s, A320s, and A330neos—a 50% increase in inventory.

The arrival of the first new plane is scheduled for this coming June 2022. This widebody would either replace or supplement the Airbus A330 planes already in use.
