Canzoni dai ritmi rock, blues, country, pop, in brani come “Let the four winds blow” di Fats Domino, “I hear you knockin’” di Smiley Lewis, “In the still of the night” del gruppo The five Satins, “A white sport coat” di Marty Robbins, “Que rico el mambo” di Perez Prado, si ascoltano nell’America anni cinquanta e sessanta nel film “The Irishman” di Martin Scorsese. Alcune canzoni che si ascoltano durante il film sono raccolte nell’album colonna sonora del film The Irishman realizzato dalla Sony Music. Il supervisore musicale americano Randall Poster ha lavorato alla colonna sonora del film e il musicista canadese Robbie Robertson (fondatore del famoso complesso musicale The Band) ha realizzato “Theme for the Irishman”, e “Remembrance”, emozionanti brani strumentali suonati con una vibrante armonica, tra i suoni intensi delle chitarre elettriche, i toni profondi del contrabasso e quelli rimbombanti delle percussioni. Robertson ha già lavorato alla musica di vari films di Martin Scorsese, “Raging bull” (Toro scatenato), “The color of money” (Il colore dei soldi), “The King of Comedy” (Re per una notte).
Della colonna sonora di un film, il regista Martin Scorsese dice: “Per me, la musica è sempre stata essenziale. Quando ascolto la musica, comincio a vedere le immagini, a creare una storia”. “La musica è sempre stata importante, dischi, radio, juke box, musica ovunque, nelle strade e dalle finestre della gente. La musica riflette un personaggio, descrive le scene di un film”. La maggiore parte delle riprese e il modo in cui mi approccio ad ogni scena deriva dalla musica”.
Come in molti dei suoi films: “Quei bravi ragazzi”, “Casino”, “Taxi driver”, Scorsese porta lo stile “Doo Wop”, utilizzando ballabili brani rock & roll e melodie che rappresentano un’epoca. Come nel film “The Irishman”, in cui la musica aggiunge azioni ed emozioni ai personaggi di un film.
Rock & roll, blues, country, jazz rhythms… in songs like “Let the four winds blow” by Fats Domino, “I hear you knockin’” by Smiley Lewis, “In the still of the night” by the group The Five Satins, “A white sport coat” by Marty Robbins, “Que rico el mambo” by Perez Prado, we listen in the America of the fifties and sixties in the movie “The Irishman” by director Martin Scorsese. Some songs we listen to during the film are on the original motion picture soundtrack album realized by Sony Music.
The American music supervisor Randall Poster has worked to the movie soundtrack, and the Canadian musician Robbie Robertson (founder of the renowned The Band) has realized the instrumental songs “Theme for The Irishman” and “Remembrance”, played with a vibrant harmonica, through the intense sounds of acoustic guitars, with the deep tunes of double bass and the rumbling drums. Robertson has already worked with director Martin Scorsese on the music for the movies “Raging bull”, “The color of money”, and “The king of comedy”.
Of a movie soundtrack, the director Martin Scorsese says: “For me, music is always essential; when I hear the music, I start seeing the images, to create a story. Music has always been important, records, radio, jukebox, music everywhere in the streets, through people’s windows. Sometimes a piece of music reflects a character for me, and I start to imagine the film scenes. In most of the shots, the way I approach myself to a scene derives from music”.
Like in many of his movies. “Goodfellas”, “Casino”, “Taxi driver”, Scorsese brings the “Doo Wop” style utilizing dance rock & roll songs and melodies that represent an era. Like in “The Irishman”, in which music adds actions and emotions to the characters of the movie.
