This year once again the Italian airline has won (for the fifth time) the award for “Best Airline Cuisine”, as the best airline in the world for the quality of its in-flight meals. The prize was awarded by the American magazine Global Traveler, which has been promoting research into excellence in the travel and tourism industry for ten years.
Over 26,000 frequent flyers took part in the “GT Tested Reader Survey Awards 2014” and were extremely satisfied with our high-altitude cuisine. This recognition rewards the efforts Aliatlia has made to revive their in-flight service by promoting the excellence of Italian food and wine.
The dishes served on board stand out for their quality, refinement and authenticity, a true expression of the Italian character. They are the fruit of the talent and imagination of the chefs and accompanied by wines selected for customers by their official Sommelier, in collaboration with the Italian Sommelier Foundation.
The in-flight menus offered in Magnifica, their business class on long-haul flights, are inspired by traditional regional cooking: from the appetizers to the desserts, Italian excellence is combined with excellent wines from the most refined Italian cellars.
The prize for “Best Airline Cuisine” comes on top of the other awards received, for Best In-Flight Wine Program at the Saveur Culinary Travel Awards 2013 for the best quality distribution of wines to accompany the meals served on board, the “TravelPlus Airline Amenity Bag Awards” (2013) for the best men’s and women’s amenity kits provided in business class and the “Outstanding Wine List” (2014) prize.
Alitalia was also recognized by the Istituto Tedesco di Qualità e Finanza (ITQF — German quality and finance institute) as “the best airline company for its customer service”, winning the gold medal thanks to the high satisfaction rating achieved, 82.6%.
