THE PRESA 2024 AWARDS WERE PRESENTED TO THOSE WHO HAVE DISTINGUISHED THEMSELVES FOR THEIR COMMITMENT TO GENDER INCLUSION, RESPECT FOR DISABILITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS. WINNERS INCLUDED ACTOR PINO INSEGNO, DR. CRISTINA DI SILVIO AND DR. MARIA ROSARIA CAMPITIELLO.

The tenth edition of the event, organized by the PreSa – Prevenzione e Salute Publishing Network and promoted by the Mesit Foundation for Social Medicine and Technological Innovation, took place on 18 December in Rome at Palazzo Baldassini. The prestigious PreSa Award was created to recognize institutions, professionals, associations, or even individual citizens who have distinguished themselves, nationally and internationally, for their praiseworthy activities in favor of inclusion, protection of the disabled, and respect for human rights.

In a packed hall, the winners from different backgrounds were introduced by the President of the Mesit Foundation, Prof. Marco Trabucco Aurilio. They were able to share their moving experiences with the audience.

Among them were the actor Pino Insegno, who created the “Voice for Purpose” project in favor of ALS patients, Mr. Marco Baruffaldi, a talented young man with Down’s syndrome who fights against bullying, Dr. Maria Rosaria Campitiello, Head of the Prevention Department at the Ministry of Health, and Mr. Marcello Cattani, President of Farmindustria.

Great emotion was aroused by the speech of Dr. Denis Mukwege, 2018 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and gynecologist, who was unable to attend the ceremony but wished to send his greetings and thanks to the Mesit Foundation, by sending a short but moving video describing his work on behalf of Congolese women who are violated and brutalized by the militias that constantly invade his country, the Democratic Republic of Congo. Dr. Mukwege thanked Dr Cristina Di Silvio, with whom he works closely and who had insisted on his presence at the PreSa Award ceremony. Moreover, Dr Di Silvio was awarded the PreSa 2024 Prize for her tireless work favoring inclusion policies and the defense of human rights. This is an uninterrupted work that Dr. Di Silvio has been promoting for years and has rightly earned her this prestigious award.
