OSIA’s Garibaldi Lodge #2583 celebrates Columbus Day granting Awards and Scholarships

On Friday October 14th The Columbus Day Committee of Eastchester Tuckahoe honored Dr. Walter R. Moran III, Ed.D., Superintendent of Eastchester Schools, as Man of the Year, our three local Police Departments of Bronxville, Tuckahoe and Eastchester, and Alexandria Tucci as Miss Columbus – 2016.

Dr. Moran was honored for his leadership and commitment to the children of the Eastchester School District; previously as Middle School Principal, and currently, as Superintendent of Schools.  Our local Police Departments of Bronxville, Tuckahoe and Eastchester were recognized for the risks they take each and every day to protect and serve our families and for their continued commitment to our communities.

The representatives of the three police departments receive their awards.

Miss Columbus was honored for her commitment to the Italian Heritage and Culture and her dedication to the study of the Italian language and was awarded a four year college scholarship from The Generoso Pope Foundation.

The event was attended by approximately 175 people including 44 Lodge members plus their families and guests.

The Scholarship Dinner is hosted annually by the Giuseppe Garibaldi Lodge #2583 – Order Sons of Italy in America, together with co-sponsors The Columbus Day Committee of Eastchester & Tuckahoe, and The Generoso Pope Foundation.
