Monuments speak to us. Bologna talks about its protagonists…

Monuments speak to us.

If we pause, even for a moment, to look at them and question them, they tell us of a fascinating past—our own.

Taking these monuments as an ideal starting point, the portal “Storia e Memoria di Bologna” (History and Memory of Bologna) gives a voice to the major and minor protagonists of history: the fallen from Bologna who lost their lives in the Great War and the Resistance, the victims of the Monte Sole massacre, our illustrious predecessors resting at the Monumental Cemetery of the Certosa, and many others yet to be identified through an ongoing, ever-evolving project.

The names of these protagonists gradually become faces, images, and intertwined stories, ultimately tracing the outlines of a world that belongs to us, for it is the world from which we come.

The various databases containing information on biographies, events, places, monuments, and artworks are organized into thematic scenarios that represent the “chapters” of this great book of Bolognese memory.
