(USA) Artist/photographer Lella Beretta back in NYC.

Lella Beretta, who appeared on our magazine last year, is exhibiting at the Agora gallery, in NYC, in the group show Illumination: An Exhibition of Fine Art Photography, which opened on October 7th and will close on November 19th.

Born in Vercelli, Italy, where she still lives and works, Beretta studied philosophy at the Public University of Milan before embarking on her career as a professional photographer. Since then she has received much recognition for her works, both in Italy and internationally, including numerous exhibitions and awards, most notably competing as part of the Italian team in the Photography World Cup, winning gold and silver medals in both 2003 and 2005, and winning other prizes in 2008 and 2011.

Agora Gallery stated that Lella Berettasearches for a deeper and more profound sense of beauty through her camera lens. Beretta arranges her works around a romantic vision, posing her subjects with a dreamlike intimacy as she develops a personal story of the emotions of the soul, capturing an exquisite and magical vision of the human experience. Along with her more imaginative arrangements, Beretta explores issues of race with an appealing tenderness and discovers a rich dialog of spirit in realism.  For dramatic effect, these striking photos are printed in a large scale on canvas, occasionally as a limited edition”.

Regarding her images, the artist declared: “ I search for Beauty at all times and my objective has always been to enhance it. The Beauty I’m talking about, though, is not a superficial concept but an intimate matter through which I would like to transmit emotions to the people looking at my photos. My studies and my degree in Philosophy have influenced my whole life, artistic inspiration included. This is the reason why my collection of fine art photography is called “Filosofia per Immagini” (Philosophy through Images): every time I’m holding the camera in my hands, I am already looking for the soul and the story hidden behind the face I’m going to photograph. My children, my people, my landscapes, my seasons, my black and white images: they all express many kinds of Beauty but it’s up to the individual to feel it.
Every single photo is a unique and personal story which can’t be repeated: I want my pictures to be like a beautiful piece of music, like a lovely poem, or a colorful painting or like a page of a fascinating book.I would like people who come to my exhibition to remember my images and then leave with new feelings and sensations”.
